Old Crow Traveler Fifth Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey (1970) (75cl, 43%)

This is an Old Crow Traveler, a Kentucky straight bourbon bottled at 86 proof, or 43% ABV, in a 75cl bottle. The Traveler was introduced in the late 1960s as a flat bottle designed to fit a briefcase, with a strap holding a fake-wood cover over the cap. Old Crow is the bourbon connected with Abraham Lincoln's remark about sending a barrel to his other generals after Grant's heavy losses at Shiloh. Tasting notes describe brown sugar, sultanas, treacle toffee and barrel char on the nose.
