Old Perth Macallan Highland Park 21 Year Old Edition (70cl, 43.6%)

This is a 21 year old blended malt from Old Perth, bottled at 43.6% abv in a 70cl bottle. It is a vatting of Highland Park and Macallan single malts, and only 900 bottles were filled worldwide. The two malts were brought together in 2015. The Highland Park was distilled in 2004 and already more than ten years old then, while the Macallan was considerably older. The vatting went into Oloroso sherry butts for further maturation. It is non-chill-filtered, of natural colour, and deep gold with mahogany reflections. The nose shows orchard fruit, soft spices and subtle oak. Honeyed malt, dried fruit and delicate nutty notes mark the palate, and the finish is long, warm and nutty-sweet.
