This is the 12-year-old single malt from Old Pulteney, released in mid-2018 and bottled at 40% in a 70cl bottle. It was aged entirely in bourbon casks, which bring a pronounced bourbon sweetness that balances the coastal salinity of the whisky.
The nose offers honeycomb, vanilla tablet, soft sawdusty oak and oatcakes. On the palate come chocolate peanuts, mint, citrus peel, maritime notes and white pepper, followed by a finish of toffee, brine and lemon.
