Old Pulteney 12 Year Old is a Highland single malt Scotch whisky, bottled at 40% ABV in a 75cl bottle. It is matured entirely in hand-selected, air-dried American oak ex-bourbon casks.
It is distilled at Pulteney Distillery in Wick, Caithness, founded in 1826. The coastal warehouses let salty sea air into the casks, and the distillery still uses traditional worm-tub condensers.
The colour is described as warm gold with a rich amber edge. The nose offers bright citrus and vanilla with salty air, and the palate moves from honey and cream to ripe fruit and fresh spice. The finish is long, lively and faintly salty.
