Old Pulteney – 15 Years

Old Pulteney 15 Years is a single malt from the second most northerly distillery on the Scottish mainland, which was founded in 1826 by James Henderson. It is matured twice. A long first maturation in second-fill American oak ex-bourbon casks is followed by a second maturation in first-fill Spanish oak ex-Oloroso sherry butts. The nose is toffee, coffee and sultanas, with the sweetness of toffee set against sea spray saltiness. On the palate come salted caramel biscuits, green apple, sea salt and straw. The finish is chocolate with red chilli and a hint of spiced rum warmth.
