Ondjaba The Namibian Whiskey Signature Edition #2 (70cl, 51%)

Ondjaba Signature Edition #2 is a single grain whiskey made by Erongo Mountain Winery in Omaruru, Namibia. The triple-grain recipe includes local mahangu millet, dried over smoke from processed elephant dung as a Namibian alternative to peat. It matured first in red wine casks, then was finished in the winery's own Gravino casks, a Namibian fortified wine in the style of port, and in casks that held Jewel of Namibia brandy. It is bottled at 51% in a 70cl bottle, non-chill-filtered and with no added colour. The nose has toasted millet, warm oak, vanilla and restrained earthy smoke, with ripe berries and raisins. The palate is creamy and full, with red fruit, dark cherry, fig and a light smokiness. The finish is long and warming, with dry, spicy oak.
