This is a vintage 2013 Grand Cru Champagne from Patrick Regnault, blended from 70% Chardonnay from Le Mesnil-sur-Oger in the Côte des Blancs and 30% Pinot Noir from Ambonnay in the Montagne de Reims.
The grapes come from low-yielding vines more than 60 years old and are picked by hand. The wine ferments in oak casks before its second fermentation in bottle, then spends over six years on the lees before disgorgement and a rest in cool cellars.
Fine bubbles and a good mousse lead to a nose of lime, apricot, green apple and white flowers, with light toast and brioche. The palate shows citrus fruit, butter and mineral depth, with fresh acidity balanced by a creamy texture.
