This is a 15-year-old Napoléon cognac from Paul Giraud, a fifth-generation family house in Grande Champagne, the heart of the Cognac region.
The wine is made at 8-10% alcohol and double-distilled in two pot stills, the first distillation on the lees for added complexity. It is aged at full strength in Limousin oak, with roughly 30% new barrels each year. At this age the fruit comes forward and the raw cask character recedes.
On the nose there is fresh meadow flowers, acacia honey and plums. The palate is focused, with cask influence, generous weight and depth, and a dense, long finish.
