Penelope Wheated Bourbon (75cl, 47.5%)

Penelope Wheated is a non-chill-filtered, four-grain straight bourbon, bottled at 47.5% ABV in a 750ml bottle. The whiskey comes from the Ross & Squibb Distillery in Indiana, formerly and still widely known as MGP. The mashbill is 74% corn, 16% wheat, 7% rye and 3% malted barley, so it includes rye, which wheated bourbons usually leave out. It is aged for four to six years. The nose offers light oak, sweet corn, hot cross buns, vanilla and honeyed pear. The palate is soft, with vanilla and honey, then caramel apple, orange zest and white pepper. The finish is medium-long, with brown sugar, toasted oak and a touch of cinnamon.
