This is a VSOP Calvados from Père Magloire, a Normandy producer founded in 1821. It is made from apples grown in AOC-protected Normandy orchards, fermented into cider and distilled, and bottled at 40% ABV.
The spirit is matured for a minimum of four years, partly in French oak casks that previously held older Calvados.
The nose brings fresh apple, pear and baked orchard fruit with vanilla, soft spice and toasted oak. On the palate it is smooth and fruit-forward, with crisp apple, poached pear, caramel and cinnamon. The finish is long and clean, with apple skins, baking spice and soft vanilla.
