A white Meursault from Domaine Philippe Bouzereau, made from grapes grown on the 2.46 ha Les Grands Charrons parcel. The vines were planted in 1950, 1981, 1987 and 1997 on deep soils of clay lower down and soil with small stones higher up. The estate ploughs between rows and uses no weedkillers, and has been in transition to organic cultivation since 2015.
The must is fermented in oak barrels with regular batonnage, then aged on its lees for 12 months in barrels, 20% new, followed by 3 months in larger stainless steel tanks. The wine is lightly fined but not filtered before bottling. It has a golden colour, with classic Meursault aromas of citrus, peach, almond and a little vanilla, and a complex, intense palate with a crisp, mineral and spicy finish. It suits rich fish and shellfish dishes, poultry and veal.
