A 12 year old Highland single malt from Pittyvaich, bottled at 43% in a 70cl bottle as part of the Flora and Fauna series. It was bottled from sherry cask. United Distillers began the series in 1992 with 26 single malts.
Arthur Bell & Sons built Pittyvaich in 1975 next to its Dufftown distillery. It closed in 1993 and was demolished in 2002.
The nose is full and robust, with spicy oak, a touch of smoke, kippers, mocha, cereal and malted barley. The palate is full and dry, with oily nuts, dark chocolate, espresso beans and developing oak. The finish is long and tannic.
