This is a 29 year old Speyside single malt from Pittyvaich, part of the 2019 Diageo Special Release series. It was distilled in 1989 and bottled on 8 July 2019 at a cask strength of 51.4% ABV, without colouring or chill-filtration. Only 5,568 bottles were filled.
It is the first Pittyvaich to be finished in both Pedro Ximenez and Oloroso seasoned casks. Pittyvaich worked for just 18 years before closing in 1993.
The nose is soft and delicate, with fine fruit, dried flowers and a hint of buttery dough. The palate is very smooth and sweet with dried fruit, then drier with black tea. The finish is long and gentle, ending on powdered ginger.
