Port Askaig 100 Proof Islay is an Islay single malt bottled at 57.1% ABV. The name refers to the traditional British 100 proof measure, which corresponds to that strength.
The whisky was matured entirely in first-fill ex-bourbon casks, and it is bottled without chill-filtration or added colour.
The nose combines peat smoke with ripe pear, fresh lemon, sweet malt, sea salt and iodine. On the palate it is full, with heavy peat, black pepper and citrus alongside vanilla and milk chocolate. The finish is long and sweetly smoky, with dark chocolate, leather and sea salt.
