Port Askaig 25 is a 25-year-old Islay single malt from Elixir Distillers.
The nose opens with roasted vanilla pods and scorched hay, with a sea breeze around them. With time in the glass, barbecued orange and oregano join coal smoke.
On the palate, sea salt and lemongrass sit against grilled fish, brown sugar and light tobacco smoke. The saltiness builds and a note of honeydew melon wrapped in Parma ham appears. The finish keeps melon and rock salt with sooty smoke that holds a trace of sweetness for a long time.
