Port Charlotte 10 Year Old is a heavily peated Islay single malt from Bruichladdich, bottled at 50% in a 70cl bottle. The barley is peated to 40 ppm.
It is a vatting of ten-year-old whiskies: 65% from first-fill American whiskey casks, 10% from second-fill American whiskey casks and 25% from second-fill French wine casks. It is non-chill filtered and has no added colouring.
The nose combines maritime peat smoke with caramel, vanilla custard, lemon honey and oysters. On the palate, peat smoke and sea salt sit with oak sweetness, coconut, vanilla and toffee. The finish is long and warming, with smoky peat, sea spray and oak spice, fading to dry smoke.
