This is a 2010 Port Charlotte from Bruichladdich on Islay, a single cask whisky bottled by hand at the distillery. It matured for 11 years in a single first fill bourbon cask and is bottled at a cask strength of 63.4% ABV.
Port Charlotte malts are peated to a phenol level of 40ppm, and the tall, narrow-necked stills produce a spirit that is elegant, aromatic and rich.
The flavours are sweet, with vanilla and stone fruits, notes of ash, tobacco and spices, and plenty of peat that lingers on the finish.
