Port Charlotte Heavily Peated 10 Year Old is an Islay single malt bottled at 50% ABV. It was distilled, matured and bottled on Islay, and its peating level is 40 parts per million phenols.
The maturation was split between casks: 65% first-fill American, 10% second-fill American and 25% second-fill French wine casks.
The nose has dry, earthy peat smoke with a marine, ozone quality, over golden caramel, fudge, vanilla cream, ginger and nutmeg. The palate is soft and delicate, with coconut, vanilla cream and lemon honey alongside smoked oyster and sun-baked salty sand. The finish brings fudge, malted barley, orange, mango and banoffee pie, then ripe apple and apricot with dry smoke.
