A heavily peated Islay single malt from Bruichladdich, made under the Port Charlotte name and bottled at 50% in a 70cl bottle. The barley was grown entirely on Islay farms and harvested in 2013, and the peating level is 40 PPM.
The whisky was matured in 84% first-fill American bourbon casks, 8% second-fill virgin oak and 8% second-fill Bordeaux wine casks. It is non-chill-filtered and has no added colouring.
The nose has peat smoke, orchard fruit, vanilla custard and caramel. The palate is smoky and malty, with toasted oak, dark chocolate, pear, cinnamon, sea salt and red berries. The finish is long and warming, with peat, vanilla and oak spice.
