This is an Islay single malt from Port Ellen, distilled in 1969 and aged for 15 years. Gordon & MacPhail bottled it around 1985 for its Connoisseurs Choice range, at 40% ABV in a 75cl bottle.
The nose is delicate, with marzipan, camphor, apple skins and grapefruit juice alongside peat smoke, hay and a waxy note that grows. The palate opens very sweet and very peaty, with liquorice and bitter oranges. The finish is rather long, with eucalyptus and more marzipan.
