This is a 35 year old Port Ellen from Islay, distilled in 1982 and bottled independently by Douglas Laing in 2018. It is a 70cl bottle at 54.4% ABV. It belongs to Douglas Laing's Xtra Old Particular single cask series, launched in 2013 for casks the Laing family regards as its jewels. This Platinum edition commemorates Douglas Laing's 70th anniversary. Port Ellen closed in the 1980s, when there was too much peated whisky for blending and little interest in it as a single malt. Its reputation has grown considerably since.

About Glenbotal

The idea of Glenbotal came to us naturally: as whisky lovers, we were always on the lookout for new experiences in the whisky world. That’s why we created Glenbotal and became our very own first customers. We buy unique and hard to find spirits from ballots and private collections. Then, we share them with a small circle of friends and people who can appreciate a good dram.
