A 29-year-old Islay single malt from Port Ellen, distilled in 1978 and issued as the eighth release in Diageo's annual Special Releases series. It is the fourth expression from the 1978 vintage, and 6,618 bottles were produced.
The nose is lemon peel, smouldering bonfire embers, smoked honey and sea spray. The palate is elegant and persistent, with grapefruit freshness, honey, toasted oak, dry smoke and a briny, savoury edge. The finish is lingering and layered.
