Refill sherry butt
This is a 42-year-old Port Ellen single malt from Gordon & MacPhail's Recollection Series. It was distilled in 1981, matured in a single refill sherry butt and bottled in 2024 at a natural strength of 52.5%, in a 70cl bottle. Port Ellen, on Islay, fell silent in 1930, reopened in 1967 and was mothballed again in 1983, when its stills were removed. The nose offers dark chocolate, ginger, cinnamon, blackcurrant, medjool dates and vanilla pod. The palate brings rich fruitcake, baked apples, sweet smoke, peanut brittle and dark cherry. The finish is long, with dried fruit and bonfire embers.

About Glenbotal

The idea of Glenbotal came to us naturally: as whisky lovers, we were always on the lookout for new experiences in the whisky world. That’s why we created Glenbotal and became our very own first customers. We buy unique and hard to find spirits from ballots and private collections. Then, we share them with a small circle of friends and people who can appreciate a good dram.
