First-fill new oak chinkapin barrel
A five-year-old single malt from Raasay, distilled in 2019 and bottled by the Scotch Malt Whisky Society for its Whisky Wanderers Festivals 2025. It was matured in a single first-fill chinkapin barrel of new oak, one of 204 bottles, and is bottled at 61.1% in a 70cl bottle. The nose has treacle, pebble beach freshness, lemony zing, sea breezes and lightly singed heather, with yellow fruit and cedar flowers after reduction. The palate opens with lemon sharpness and chilli warmth, moving to dried cherry, dried mango and pomegranate. Water brings golden syrup on raisins, black forest gateau and liquorice root.

About Glenbotal

The idea of Glenbotal came to us naturally: as whisky lovers, we were always on the lookout for new experiences in the whisky world. That’s why we created Glenbotal and became our very own first customers. We buy unique and hard to find spirits from ballots and private collections. Then, we share them with a small circle of friends and people who can appreciate a good dram.
