Ransom Bourbon is a four-grain bourbon from Ransom Spirits in Oregon's Willamette Valley, bottled at 44% in a 750ml bottle. It blends bourbons of 2, 3 and 12 years old.
The two younger stocks come from Indiana, while the 12-year-old is distilled on site in a hand-hammered French alembic copper pot still over direct fire. The mashbill is 66% corn, 23% rye, 6% wheat and 4% malted barley, and the blend ages in charred American oak barrels.
The nose offers cinnamon, nutmeg, cedar and spiced fruitcake, with orange oil beneath. The palate is light and honeyed, moving to hot cocoa, oatmeal cookie and anise. The finish is long, with brown sugar, peppery rye and orange zest.
