Rare Hare Tempest 20 Year Old Tasmanian Whisky Finished in Port Casks (70cl, 42%)

This is a 20 year old single malt from Rare Hare Spirits, distilled in Tasmania by Hellyers Road Distillery from locally grown barley in pot stills. It is bottled at 42% ABV in a 70cl bottle, and the brand launched it in 2024. The whisky spent 17 years in standard-size American oak ex-bourbon casks, a departure from the small barrels common in Tasmanian whisky. It then finished for three years in port casks. The tasting notes describe dried fig, plum and dark cherry from the port, over honeyed malt and oak, with vanilla, polished leather and gentle tannin.
