Rare Hare Tempest 20 Year (70cl, 42%)

Rare Hare Tempest 20 Year is a Tasmanian single malt from Hellyers Road Distillery, bottled at 42% in a 70cl bottle. It is a limited release of 2,500 bottles. The whisky spent seventeen years in standard-size bourbon casks before a final three years in port casks, a route that relies on time rather than the smaller barrels often used to speed up maturation in Tasmania. The nose offers biscotti, vanilla nougat and citrus marmalade, with honeycomb and dried fruit behind. On the palate come baked biscuits, anise, stewed apricots and dark chocolate. The long finish carries cigar wrapper, dried apricot and a faintly sweet, tannic texture from the port.
