RD1 Straight Bourbon Finished with French Oak is a Kentucky straight bourbon in a 750ml bottle, and the first RD1 release to pair traditional barrel ageing with a wood finish.
The bourbon matured for more than four years in new American oak barrels. French oak staves were then added to the barrel for a further two to four months. The French oak comes from forests in central France and was seasoned for two to three years in Northern California.
The palate is rich, with caramel at the front, dark cherries and sweet oak. The finish brings dark chocolate, then dries to oak with a touch of smoke.
