Redbreast Missouri Oak Edition is a single pot still Irish whiskey in a 750ml bottle, bottled at 50.5% ABV (101 proof). It is the latest addition to Redbreast's American Oak series.
The whiskey is aged in sherry and ex-bourbon barrels, then finished for ten months in virgin Missouri oak barrels, with the oak sourced from the Ozark Forest. The Cerulean Warbler, a songbird that breeds there, appears on the packaging, and Redbreast has sponsored a research study into the bird.
The nose shows toffee apple, vanilla, blackcurrant and black cherry, with cinnamon, ground ginger and a background of pecan pie. The palate is creamy, with cinnamon, nutmeg, black pepper, berry fruit and vanilla cream once the oak tannins ease. The finish is long and nutty.
