This is a limited edition of Rémy Martin 1738 Accord Royal Cognac, dressed for the Year of the Snake in a decanter designed by the Chinese artist Huang Yuxing. His design carries flowing patterns of red, gold and deep violet.
The cognac takes its name from the royal warrant granted by King Louis XV in 1738. It is a blend of eaux-de-vie from the Grande and Petite Champagne crus, aged in toasted French oak casks.
On the nose there are butterscotch, baked apple and roasted nuts, with vanilla, oak, cinnamon and dried fig. The palate is smooth and full-bodied, with caramel, plum, toasted brioche, gentle spice and honeyed fruit. The finish is long and velvety, with dark chocolate, toffee and oak spice.
