Ron Colon Salvadoreño 111 Proof Rum (75cl, 55.5%)

Ron Colon Salvadoreño 111 is an overproof blended rum at 55.5% vol (111 proof), in a 75cl bottle. It combines column-distilled rum from Licorera Cihuatán in El Salvador, aged six years, with pot-distilled rums from the Jamaican distilleries Worthy Park, Hampden and Monymusk. All the rums are aged at their sources in ex-bourbon white oak barrels before blending. No additives or sugar dosing are used, and the strength was chosen so the rum holds up in cocktails as well as neat. The nose is tropical, with coconut and ripe pineapple. The palate shows grilled pineapple, caramelised banana, vanilla, toasted coconut and baking spice. The finish is long and warming, with ginger heat and lemony brightness.
