Royal Brackla – 12 Year Old (46%)

This is a 12 year old Highland single malt from Royal Brackla, bottled at 46% ABV. It is finished in Oloroso sherry casks, and is natural colour and non-chill-filtered. The distillery was founded in 1812 on the Cawdor Estate. In 1833 it received a Royal Warrant from King William IV, the first given to a Scotch whisky, and became known as The King's Own Whisky. The flavour is described as rich and fruity: ripe peaches, black cherries, chocolate-covered almonds and muscovado sugar, with dark chocolate, nuts and slowly stewed fruit from the Oloroso casks.
