Royal Lochnagar 12 Year Old is a Highland single malt bottled at 40% ABV. It has a sweetly perfumed, subtly firm character with a distinct woody note, and the finish leaves a lasting impression of sandalwood.
The distillery stands near Balmoral and is one of the smallest in Scotland, working with just two copper pot stills. It was established in 1845 and became Royal Lochnagar after Queen Victoria and Prince Albert gave their approval.
Whisky is still made in stone buildings, some of them former stables and corn lofts, using spring water from the slopes of Lochnagar.
