Royal Lochnagar – 12 Year Old (70cl, 40%)

Royal Lochnagar 12 Year Old is a Highland single malt Scotch whisky, bottled at 40% in a 70cl bottle. It comes from a distillery founded by John Begg in 1845, close to Balmoral Castle. The distillery gained its royal name after a royal family visit and a royal warrant. Its style comes from clear wort, a fermentation of at least 60 hours and very slow distillation to produce a light spirit. The nose is light toffee with apple pie and cinnamon. On the palate come ginger biscuits, muscovado sugar and dried fruits soaked in whisky, followed by a long, warming finish.
