Russell's Reserve 13 Year is a Kentucky straight bourbon from Wild Turkey in Lawrenceburg, bottled at barrel proof, 57.4% ABV, without chill filtration, in a 75cl bottle. The line is overseen by father-and-son master distillers Jimmy and Eddie Russell.
The mashbill is 75% corn, 13% rye and 12% malted barley, and the whiskey matured in new charred American oak. Barrels of 13 years are married with older stocks.
The nose brings dark caramel, burnt brown sugar, toasted oak and dried tobacco, with dried cherries and plum beneath. Honey and dark chocolate lead the palate, followed by baking spice and rye pepper. The finish is long and warming, with smoke, dark chocolate bitterness and dry oak.
