Sakurao Single Malt (70cl)

Sakurao Single Malt is a Japanese single malt in a 70cl bottle, made by the Chugoku Jozo distillery near Hiroshima. The distillery has been producing spirits since 1918, mainly sake and shochu, and began making whisky in 1990. This was its first single malt. It carries no age statement. The whisky is matured in ex-bourbon and ex-sherry oak, then spends a few months in new mizunara casks. The nose is fruity with a light citrus note, with grape, peach and orange. The palate is soft and spicy, with black pepper, cocoa beans, seaweed and wildflower honey. The finish is lightly smoky, long, deep and sweet.
