Samalens Bas Armagnac 1990 15 Year Old (70cl)

This is a Bas Armagnac from Samalens, distilled in 1990 and aged for fifteen years in French oak. It comes from the Armagnac region of south-west France and is presented in a wooden box. The long time in cask gives a deep amber colour and a soft, velvety texture. On the nose there is plum, vanilla and light toasting, with a little cocoa and sweet spice such as cinnamon and clove. The palate is round and full, echoing the nose with a slightly balsamic note, and it leads to a long finish. It is best served at room temperature after dinner, or alongside dark chocolate or mature cheese.
