Samalens Single 12 Ans d'Age Bas Armagnac (70cl)

This is a 12-year-old Bas Armagnac from Samalens, made entirely from wine of the ugni blanc grape, known in Italy as trebbiano. Half of the spirit comes from double distillation and half from continuous distillation. Twelve years of ageing add secondary aromas while the Armagnac keeps a pleasant freshness. It is amber-gold in the glass. The nose shows wood and vanilla with dried flowers (rose, violet, lily of the valley), dried fruit (figs, plums, apricots and dates), cinnamon, curry and liquorice. The palate is soft and complex, with spice and incense, and a long finish.
