Shenk's Homestead is a Kentucky sour mash whiskey from Michter's, here in its 2025 edition. It is a small batch bottling at 45.6% ABV (91.2 proof), in a 70cl bottle.
The whiskey is not chill-filtered and has no added colour, and it shows a deep mahogany tone in the glass.
The nose is roasted sugar and honey with cinnamon and cloves, caramel, marshmallow and a fine buttermilk sourness. On the palate, toffee, nougat and milk chocolate meet buttercream, dried fruit and spicy rye. The finish is soft and warming, with cinnamon, rye spice and a hint of toffee.
