This is a barrel strength straight bourbon from Shortbarrel, bottled at 58.8% in a 75cl bottle. It belongs to the Double Oaked Series, in which a blend of straight bourbons is made first and then given a second maturation.
The blend typically combines traditional and high-rye mashbills. It then moves into new Kelvin barrels with varying levels of char, which deepens the texture and lengthens the finish.
The nose brings toasted oak, caramelised sugar and vanilla bean with baking spice and cocoa powder. The palate is full-bodied, with brown sugar, dark caramel and dry tannin, and the finish is long and warming.
