Single Malts of Scotland An Islay Distillery 30 Year Old Marriage Cask (47.5%)

This is a 30-year-old Islay single malt from the Single Malts of Scotland series, bottled by Elixir Distillers in its Marriage of Casks range, where a few single malt casks are married together. It is bottled at 47.5% and has an amber colour. The nose opens slowly, then reveals layers of tobacco, leather, dried fruit, stone fruit, smouldering smoke and umami. The palate is powerful yet rounded and refined, echoing the nose. The finish is very long, with old Islay smoke that stays elegant rather than overwhelming.
