Slane Triple Casked Irish Whiskey (70cl, 40%)

Slane Triple Casked is a blended Irish whiskey from Slane Distillery, bottled at 40% in a 70cl bottle. It brings together whiskeys matured in new oak casks, used Tennessee whiskey casks and Oloroso sherry casks, then married together. Triple Casked therefore means three types of cask, not three successive maturations. The new oak is heavily toasted and medium charred, adding roasted oak and vanilla. The used whiskey casks contribute caramel, plum, banana and butterscotch, while the Oloroso casks add raisins and spice. The nose is fruity, with caramel, butterscotch, vanilla, warm spice and roasted oak. The palate starts spicy before sweet caramel and vanilla take over, with dried fruit beneath. The finish keeps dried fruit and caramelised wood sugar.
