A single cask Smögen from Sweden, distilled in 2012 and bottled in 2021 at 57.1% ABV (100 proof) in a 70cl bottle. It spent nine years in a third-fill barrel, and follows the first Smögen cask released by Whisky Sponge as Edition 19.
The whisky is distillate-forward, with raw peat smoke, seawater and citrus. The nose brings brackish water, damp smoke, wet hay and bell peppers, with apple turnover and straw once water is added. The palate has brine, chalk, wood smoke, and lemon and lime juice. The finish is long, with medicinal coastal smoke, cooling mint and baked goods.
