This is a 10 year old single malt from the Swedish distillery Smögen, distilled in 2012 and bottled in 2024 by Blackadder in its Raw Cask series. It comes from a single first fill bourbon barrel, number 47, which gave 285 bottles of 50cl.
Raw Cask bottlings are not filtered at all, so a little harmless cask sediment may appear in the glass.
The nose is earthy, with a hint of peat and a slightly damp note. The palate is lightly oily, starting gently before building into dark, resinous, earthy flavours and a warming heat. The finish is fairly long, with a hint of sweetness in the background.
