Smokehead High Voltage is a heavily peated Islay single malt created by Ian Macleod Distillers, bottled at 58% in a 70cl bottle.
The higher strength brings more intensity and spice and a fuller, oilier texture, while the sweet and coastal character of Islay remains.
The nose is thick peat smoke and bonfire ash, with sea spray and a hint of lemon and vanilla. The palate is powerful and warming, with black pepper, smoked sausage, brine, dark chocolate and sweet malt. The finish is very long and smoky, with salt, spice and lingering embers.
