Smokehead Rum Cask Rebel Edition is a limited Islay single malt from Smokehead, a brand of Ian MacLeod Distillers that has been producing heavily peated whisky since 2006. This edition is aged in rum casks and bottled at 46% ABV in a 70cl bottle.
The nose is thick with peat, soft rich oak, custard and vanilla. On the palate there is oily black smoke alongside barbecued banana, tangy sultanas and dried fruits. The finish brings the peat back with sherry oak, a sweet stickiness and a sharp, salty close.
