Smokehead Sherry Cask Blast Edition (70cl, 48%)

This is a limited release of Smokehead, the heavily peated Islay single malt from Ian MacLeod Distillers, bottled at 48% in a 70cl bottle. The whisky was matured in ex-bourbon and sherry casks, then given a further period in selected sherry casks. The nose is thick with peat, creamy and fruity, with spice, oak and vanilla custard. On the palate come black smoke, strong peat and a rich sweetness, with grilled banana, sultanas and dried fruit. The finish returns to peat, with Spanish sherry and sea salt.
