Smokehead Twisted Stout Edition (70cl, 43%)

Smokehead Twisted Stout Edition is a limited Islay single malt from Ian MacLeod Distillers, bottled at 43% in a 70cl bottle. Smokehead has been made since 2006. The whisky matured in ex-bourbon and sherry casks, then had a further maturation in selected sherry casks. It is heavily peated, with a heavy smoke. The notes describe thick peat, soft rich oak, custard and vanilla, then oily black smoke. Barbecued banana, tangy sultanas and dried fruits follow, with Spanish sherry oak, before the peat returns with a sharp, salty close.
