This is a cask strength rye whiskey from Smooth Ambler, released as Batch 1 of the 2021 Founders Cask Strength Series. The mash bill is 88% rye and 12% malted barley. Smooth Ambler holds that every whiskey, whether sourced, made at home or a blend of the two, deserves careful attention at each stage of production. The mild West Virginia climate and the infusion method are credited with giving the rye its distinct character. The flavours run to toasted oak and toffee, with sweet black tea and a light herbal spice.
