Southern Star Double Rye is a rye whiskey from Southern Distilling Company in Statesville, North Carolina, a distillery founded in 2013 by Pete and Vienna Barger. It is bottled at 44% in a 75cl bottle.
The name refers to its make-up: two straight rye whiskeys blended together, matured in charred American oak. It won Platinum at the 2021 Ascot Awards.
The nose is rye spice, honeyed grain and oak. On the palate there is cinnamon bark, clove and caramel, followed by a clean, warmly spicy finish.
